Rose: For someone who has never heard of your game, how would you describe it without using the usual genre labels?
It's a rhythm RPG set in a music festival where the swords are guitars and the potions are beers.
Rose: Where did the idea for this game come from?
I wanted to make a game with a unique setting. Since I love music, it started with the festival theme, and later I added the rhythm minigames.
Rose: What makes your game different from other games in the same space?
Is an RPG without knights and orcs. And the turn based battles have rhythm mechanics like Guitar Hero.
Rose: Was there anything you had to cut that you still secretly wish you could put back?
Changing the clothes of the characters. I wanted to make a merchandise store inside the game, but I didn't have the time to make it work for the demo. But maybe I can include it for the final version.
Rose: What is something players probably won't realize took an absurd amount of work?
Placing all the street lights in the right spots.
Rose: What is the weirdest bug you've encountered that you almost wanted to keep?
Some NPCs dancing and moving crazy fast through the fest.
Rose: Is there a particular emotion you wanted players to walk away with from your game?
I want them to feel like they have been at a festival with their friends and they had a great time.
Rose: What's one piece of advice you wish you'd had before starting?
Start marketing and asking for feedback ASAP.
Rose: Five years from now, what do you hope people remember about this game?
The first edition of the festival was rough, but it was fun. Now we have come a long way.
Rose: Why should someone reading/watching this go play your game today?
Is different, but feels familiar; is turn based but is fast paced; is easy to play good and difficult to play it perfect.
But most of all is fun! And is not that the main reason we play games? To have a good time.
Rose: Finally, the question we ask every developer: After everything you’ve told us, can you officially confirm that your game is, in fact, probably a game?
Yes, it is probably a game. It asks you to press keys (and things happen), is drawn with pixels and you can play it.
